The College of Dentistry at KKU has received full support from the University Administration to establish state-of-the-art laboratories.
1. Oral Biology Laboratory:
In the Oral Biology lab, there are now more options for students and trainees to conduct research. Interdisciplinary academics will be able to instruct students in fundamental scientific ideas at the undergraduate level.
Graduate students in oral biology can have a significant interest in researching novel issues related to the complex interrelationship between genetics, mouth health, and general health. They can carry out their work in the setting of a supportive, team-based, and multidisciplinary research environment that is overseen by an exceptional group of passionate academics who are committed to the advancement of their students as academic and industry scientists.
2. Histopathology Laboratories:
We handle and analyze the specimens of your patients, utilizing cutting-edge technology and methods. Histopathologic examination of biopsies is our major emphasis. When necessary, we perform hematoxylin and eosin examinations of soft and hard tissues as well as specific investigations, including histochemistry, immunohistochemistry.
These labs are equipped with the most recent technology, making them capable of processing and analyzing biopsies of oral tissues. Students learn to diagnose various lesions using microscopes as part of their coursework.
3. Oral Radiology Laboratories:
There is one lab at the college with enough stations. Every station has an illumination box that may be used to analyze and trace radiographs as required. Panoramic Tomography systems, intra-oral X-ray machines, digital sensors, and processing units are all included in each lab's setup. Additionally, each lab contains a number of dummy heads for testing out various imaging angles.
4. Prosthodontic Laboratories:
For student training, the college features two prosthodontic laboratories with several workstations and plaster rooms. The laboratories provide all the tools needed to prepare students for all types of laboratory work in prosthodontics. Additionally, the computers and video projectors in the laboratories are linked to demonstration units.
5. Endodontic Laboratory:
Students get the chance to practice the treatment processes necessary to treat pulpal disease in the endodontic lab, which is an essential part of the curriculum. Along with the Endodontics Lectures, this lab will educate the student to give clinical endodontic therapy by having them conduct simulated clinical procedures on removed and/or acrylic teeth. 13.6 Production Laboratories The college has one production laboratory, which is used in the teaching of students as well as in the provision of services to patients. They are well equipped to manufacture prostheses out of a variety of materials, including metal, ceramic, and acrylic. A CAD/CAM machine boosts the productivity, accuracy, and flexibility of all the services provided.
7. Phantom Laboratories:
The College of Dentistry has two phantom/simulation laboratories with 100 phantom head units. Its purpose is to provide our students with the resources necessary for a contemporary preclinical education. In line with the requirements of various instructional scenarios, students will practice all dental operations on dental units that have been mounted on a mannequin that simulates a dental unit. Our students are able to simultaneously view practices and lectures given by our faculty, thanks to the technological cameras and sound systems that are installed on instructor and student tables in our simulation laboratory. Alternatively, our students can watch an educational video via records on their personal LCD monitors that are located on their personal phantom units.
As a consequence of this, when our students go on to their clinical education, they will have the knowledge and skill set required to successfully treat a patient in a clinical setting.
