The Department of Restorative Dental Sciences imparts the basic knowledge and contemporary aspects of operative dentistry, endodontics, and dental materials sciences. It helps students develop relevant skills for diagnosing and treating defective teeth, starting with pre-clinical training through the clinical implications. The department, in turn, provides quality treatment for patients and helps conduct scientific research under the meticulous supervision of the faculty members. In addition, the department contributes to teaching postgraduate students participating in the Saudi Specialty Certificate programs (Saudi Board).
Vision:
To produce dentists of the highest caliber who can effectively practice Restorative Dentistry, educate students following international standards, and provide training that meets local and international dentistry requirements. The department faculty strives to continuously develop their knowledge and skills as academicians, clinicians, and researchers.
Mission:
The RDS department is dedicated to equipping students with the skills necessary to plan and manage teeth damage caused by oral illness and trauma. This comprehensive, ever-evolving, and stimulating field of dentistry is taught through an integrative approach, allowing students to apply their knowledge of fundamental sciences and other clinical fields to provide quality restorative care.
Objectives:
- Provide students with an in-depth intellectual and technical understanding of restorative dental care.
- Encourage students to use their knowledge to provide holistic dental care that considers each patient's culture, medical condition, social life, and dental health.
- Understand the value of striving for excellence and integrity in self-evaluation.
- emphasize the value of life-long learning for the successful practice of dentistry.
- Educate students to prioritize ethical considerations when practicing dentistry.
