About Department
The department of Restorative Dental Sciences imparts the basic knowledge and contemporary aspects of Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Dental Materials Sciences. It helps students develop relevant skills for diagnosing and treating the defective teeth starting with a pre-clinical training through the clinical implication. The department, in turns, provides quality treatment for patients, and help conduct scientific research under meticulous supervision of the faculty members. In addition, the department contribute in teaching postgraduate students participating in the Saudi Specialty Certificate programs (Saudi Board).
The department is responsible for teaching three integrated specialties:
- Operative Dentistry: It is the art and science of diagnosing and managing all types of lesions affecting the hard tooth tissues.
- Endodontics: It is the art and science of diagnosing and managing of pulp disease.
- Dental Biomaterials: it covers various aspects of materials science to provide basis for proper handling of different materials in both dental practice and laboratories.

- Restoration and building up of carious and destructed posterior teeth.
- Aesthetic management of defective anterior teeth.
- Endodontic treatment of pulp-affected anterior and posterior teeth.
- Bleaching of discoloured teeth.
- Performing the pit and fissure sealants
- Collaborate with other specialities in providing a comprehensive dental treatment.
